Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the SteadyCare One website and the non-medical sitting/companionship services we provide. By using our website, requesting services, or authorizing a shift, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree, do not use the website or services.
Who We Are/Scope of Services
SteadyCare One provides non-medical sitting, companionship, respite support, and supervision services. Our services may include, depending on the care plan:
- Companionship and social support
- Safety supervision and fall-risk awareness
- Reminders (e.g., hydration, meals, routine tasks)
- Light assistance with non-medical daily activities (as agreed)
- Transportation accompaniment (when agreed)
- Light tidying related to the shift (not deep cleaning unless explicitly booked)
We do not provide medical care.
SteadyCare One does not provide skilled nursing, medical assessments, medication administration, wound care, or other clinical services. If you need medical or emergency assistance, call 911 or a licensed healthcare provider.
Eligibility and Authority
By requesting services, you represent that:
- You are at least 18 years old, and
- You have authority to request services for yourself or the client (the “Client”), including authority to approve the care plan, schedule, and charges.
- Scheduling, Minimums, and Service Windows
- Minimum shift: 4 hours unless a facility contract states otherwise.
- Scheduled start/end times are agreed in advance. Extensions are subject to caregiver availability and approval.
- We may require an intake call before confirming service.
Fees and Payment
- Fees will be disclosed before service begins (or as part of a written service agreement).
- You are responsible for charges you approve for yourself or the Client.
- Payment is due as stated on your invoice or service agreement.
- Late or failed payments may result in paused or canceled services.
Cancellations and Changes
To protect caregiver schedules, we require notice for cancellations and significant changes.
Our Policy:
- Cancellations within 24 hours of shift start may be charged up to the first 2 hours of the scheduled shift (or the full minimum shift, if smaller notice is given).
- Same-day cancellations/no-shows may be charged up to the minimum shift.
- We will communicate any applicable cancellation charges at intake or in your service agreement.
Client Safety, Home Environment, and Supplies
You agree to provide a reasonably safe environment for the caregiver, including:
- Safe access to the home and working areas
- Reasonable lighting, temperature control, and cleanliness
- Any necessary supplies for the shift (gloves, cleaning products if requested, etc.)
- Accurate information about known risks (aggression, weapons in home, smoking, pets, fall hazards)
- We may refuse or stop services if a situation is unsafe, abusive, or materially different from what was disclosed.
Emergencies and Escalation
If an emergency occurs, you authorize SteadyCare One and the caregiver to:
- Call 911 when immediate medical or safety intervention is needed
- Notify the Client’s emergency contacts, family/POA, facility staff, or case manager as appropriate
- Follow any written emergency instructions you provided, when feasible
Communication and Shift Notes
If requested or required by the service arrangement, we may provide basic shift notes (arrival/departure times, observations related to safety and routine, and notable events). These are not medical records.
No Guarantees / Disclaimer
We strive to provide reliable, professional services, but we do not guarantee outcomes (health, recovery, medical stability, or prevention of incidents). You acknowledge that supervision reduces risk but cannot eliminate it.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- SteadyCare One will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
- Our total liability for any claim related to services or the website will not exceed the amount you paid to SteadyCare One for the specific shift(s) giving rise to the claim.
- Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, limitations apply to the maximum extent allowed by law.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SteadyCare One from claims arising out of:
- Materially inaccurate information you provided
- Unsafe conditions not disclosed
- Misuse of the website
- Your breach of these Terms
Website Use
You agree not to:
- Interfere with the website’s operation or security
- Attempt unauthorized access to systems or data
- Use the website for unlawful purposes
- Website content is provided “as is” and may change without notice.
Dispute Resolution
Before filing a formal claim, you agree to contact us to try to resolve the issue informally.
If not resolved, you agree that any dispute will be brought in the courts located in Jefferson County, Alabama, unless a different venue is required by law.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Alabama, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted with a new Effective Date.
